Is this old news?
GuitarFreaks & DrumMania V Soundtrack CD:
http://www.konamistyle.jp/ecitem/item22188.html

So apparently the release date for the soundtrack is...July 06th? Wish there was a tracklist somewhere.

Same goes for the Asaki album (which is a little more than a month away from the release date ^^). The only songs I know on that album are the Drummania songs posted on Konami's site. There should be more than that, right? *hopes for 雫*

Yo guys.

Not meaning to spam the community or anything, but I just wanted to confirm that the CHQ I am heading to is NOT the one on the lower level of the Metrotown mall, locaion L-C I believe, near the food court.

Because that was the one I went to last time.

So apparently the location is somewhere in the vicinity, but not in the mall itself?

If so, I'm a little confused, because I can't find any other CHQ other then that one on L-C. And I can't find any other arcades using the mall store locator found here: http://metropolis.shopping.ca/cambridge/jsp3/md_sl.jsp?mallid=met

I'm not perfectly helpless; I'm certain I can find the place, but since I will be bringing company, I would prefer to be as prepared as possible so as to avoid getting us all exhausted looking for an arcade that may or may not even be where we are looking.

I see a Silver City Cinema...is it supposed to be around there? That's on the upper level, northwest side...but I don't see any shopping plaza or arcades near it.

Thanks for anyone's help,
Chris

Not Asaki - Agnus Dei
I saw something weird last Sunday. In a church songbook, I saw a song titled "Agnus Dei". Not the one by Asaki that we're all familiar with, but an actual religious song. How weird is that?

Also, "Agnus Dei" apparently translates to "Cup of Salvation".

Vancuba
Yo Vancouverites, so I'll be coming up to Vancouver on Thursday, May 5th, with a small entourage of folk. Obviously we are heading to CHQ. Its kinda a day trip, so I will probably be out of there by 6PM or 7 at the latest, and I'm the only one in the group who plays Drummania, so I doubt that I'll be allowed to spend the whole day there.

But, hey, if anyone is going to be around from here, and wants to say hi and observe my horrible drumming, feel free =D

-Chris

PS> Why did Tomosuke make Reaching for the Stars long version so much slower in tempo? Gragh, the energy of that song is one of it's draws!

(Is listening to the Tomosuke album "Marble" currently)

Got to play this today~ it's such an awesome freakin' song.

The vocals are pretty soft~ a lot like Gekkou Chou, but with AWESOME piano.

They HAVE to bring this for the next GF/DM~ =3

Since No One Has Mentioned This Yet
Las Vegas, Nevada now owns a IIDXRED Machine and a Session Enabled DM/GFV.

They are set to $1 a piece and the usual three stages.

They are located inside the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, but more specifically, they are located inside the Adventure Dome of the Circus Circus.

Just thought I'd let people know about it since some people can't drive all the way to AI to play it but maybe Vegas is a better option. Who knows? I know that I enjoy playing DMV though. =D

I'm a very Happy Man right now...
I only noticed just today while playing GFV that Happy Man has an Extreme version (a Google search told me that it got the Ext when it got revived at GF9). I don't remember the song having an Ext, so I played it.

And I was greeted with absolutely all of the song's notes on manual. Remember those secret notes back in GF1-3? Well, Happy Man Ext has 'em and they ain't secret anymore ;)

This rocks. Happy Man is no longer a wuss song, which is good because I like Happy Man :D

Yay for Konami for enhancing old songs for the new generation (Happy Man GF Ext and Lucky?Staff DM). Now how about that two-player guitar pattern comeback...? ;)

Trust me, hold me, love me...all I need is just you.
So, me and a couple friends took the three-hour trip up to the AFC Westland arcade in Michigan today, to play IIDX 8th Style and GF/DM 11/10. The IIDX was allright, but the timing's very hard to pin down and I can play any song on the mix at home now. But the GF/DM was terrific. There are so many good songs on that mix, it's incredible. Puzzle, Mint Candy Citrus Drop, ROLLING1000tOON, and Save a Little Something in particular were really fun. I didn't accomplish much since I was out of practice, but I did manage to clear 777 Extreme before leaving, which was cool.

By the way, did Drummania change the difficulties of some songs at some point? I know that Waza Extreme isn't a 59 on 6th Mix. I'm pretty sure it's a 69 there.

*hopes this isn't old news*
I know this may be important for at least 2 people, but in the past few days I have discovered multiple DrumMania/GuitarFreaks V in the arcades I go to. Which means, that the machines have finally made it to North America~! (I've seen the general $1/3 stages, with the odd one or two locations that are actually set to $1/4 stages ^.^)

This leads me to another question, (HOPEFULLY someone else here has played DrumMania V) has the scoring got more strict for this game? I got B's during my first session when I should have had at least A's. Could have been because I was using crappy drumsticks that were WIRED down to the machine, or the new layout for the machine (it looks more cramped than in 10th o_O;). *scratches head*

Tama ni wa naitemo ii kara...
So, I finally got to try out my new drumsticks for the first time (didn't get to go last week 'cause of the weather). I ended up buying some Vic Firth wood-tipped 5As, and so far, I really like 'em. It's not like I'm immediately better at the game upon having my own drumsticks, but they're comfortable and I didn't have to get used to them at all. Thanks for the advice, guys. =)

Unfortunately, the condition of the machine I play on continues to worsen. The snare needs to be smacked pretty hard to even register, and the hi-hat's getting pretty bad too. Both pads are covered in duct tape and look they've never been replaced. Keep in mind that this is the machine DBA had while it was open. It's a wonder the thing's still working at all.

On the plus side, the owner's upgrading it from a 6th to an 8th and Sessioning it with the GF9, so that'll be pretty cool at least. If I can get him to replace the pads on the hi-hat and the snare, we'd be set.

DMV = <3
I had almost lost all faith in Konami Originals after playing Balance, You Can't do it if You Try, Scenario, Akogare, Beautiful Life, Desert Rose and No More Crying.

But then I remembered that Escape to the Sky is the best Konami Original in -any- Konami game, and it completely outweighs those seven shitty songs.

GF/DM V e'museless Songlist
This is THE standard songlist if you don't have e-muse connected.

Firstly, I noted five songs previously tossed around that were missing.
Lucky Staff, Sweet Illusion, Pot-pourri d'Orange, Model DD2 and Herring Roe. If you don't have e-muse, they ARE NOT there.

Here's the listCollapse )

Count = 229

Have a nice day. =D

* - This was the DM list. I assume Centaur and Depend on Me are replaced by Eraser Engine and that one other song (Mister Music Magic?) for GF.

"Oh, c'mon. Long tubes, fluids, men in their underwear. What's next?"
Quick question...I'm heading to the Sam Ash tomorrow on the way to the arcade to buy my first set of drumsticks, and to be honest, I have no idea what I'm looking for. Do you guys have any suggestion on what brand or weight I should buy? Thanks.

Man, I hate LJ's sporadic "maintenance". Lost my whole post about CHQ ;_;

Anyways, I DID find it, and had TONS of fun! Thanks to babykisaragi for helping me to find it! If you're ever in the Tacoma area, definetly drop by Narrows (and let me know beforehand so we can session =D)!

-Chris

Oh, and what are everyone's general opinions on the music in GF V/DM V? I feel like, for the most part, the new THL song was mediocre, the Motoaki long version was alright but sounded like Captain's Voyage (particularly in the first 5 seconds of the song), Fairy Tales was pretty awesome...but my favorites are definetly Heaven's Cocktail and Ancient Breeze.

Oh, Brad Holmes, what happened with "After a Hard Day?" What the hell happened? "Used to Rock 'N' Roll" is SOOOO much better. =/
